The model railway exhibition with a difference! Visitors will see approximately fourteen very large model railway layouts, several of which are over 800 sq. ft. in area. On these layouts the models will be true steam locomotives actually steaming around the track, just like the real thing.

Most model railways are 4mm scale or smaller, the size of the electric train sets seen in shops - the layouts on show at Large Scale Model Rail are completely different, being over five times larger - visitors will see live steam model locomotives hauling coaches and wagons - the real thing in miniature.

Visitors not only see the models in action but can also see many superb locomotives being prepared for their run. Children become completely enthralled watching them steam around the track, seeing exactly how they work. Most of the layouts have engine shed areas where upwards of five or six locomotives can be seen literally ‘sizzling’ quietly, giving off a fascinating smell of steam and hot oil, waiting to haul their train.

The event will be fully supported by over 40 suppliers of locomotives, tracks and accessories.
