About the Exhibition

14th Great Year - Great Hall, Alexandra Palace - A Capital Day Out.

The South's Largest Model Engineering and Modelling Exhibition takes place this January at Alexandra Palace. It will bring together model engineers, craftsmen and model making enthusiasts in a vibrant, interactive show.

This leading exhibition for model engineers will continue to enthral visitors and enthusiasts alike with hundreds of superb models covering a wide range of interests on display.

MEET THE CLUBS
See over 1000 fantastic scale models from the age of steam to the present day!  This prestigious exhibition enjoys the full support of over forty national and regional modelling clubs and societies who display a wide range of their members' work. Club members and stewards are on hand to talk about their hobby and the individual models and the exhibition hall will be packed with a vast range of modelling interests from railway locomotives, traction and stationary engines to model boats, destroyers and rockets.

Scale Plastic Modelling will also be on show at this year's exhibition. A variety of scale models and demonstrations will be presented by four London based modelling clubs providing help and advice on all aspects of their hobby.

LIVE STEAM GALORE
Visitors will see large scale model live steam railway layouts giving the opportunity not only to see the models in action but also to see many scale locomotives being prepared for their runs. Adults and children alike become completely enthralled watching them steam around the track, seeing exactly how they work. In the engine shed areas on each layout, upwards of five or six locomotives can be seen 'sizzling' quietly, giving off a fascinating smell of steam and hot oil, waiting to haul their trains.

Hot air and stationary engines will also be operating. The vast range of support for this event means we again have a unique display of models - it's a real modelling exhibition, showing the enjoyment people can find with a range of satisfying hobbies.

SPECIALIST SUPPLIERS
Exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to purchase the latest products from the comprehensive selection of specialist suppliers. From materials to machinery, everything a model engineer or modeller could possibly need for their project be it a grandfather clock or a railway locomotive.  With many of the leading suppliers present modellers will be spoilt for choice.

MODEL ACTIV ZONE
British Model Flying Association (BMFA)
http://www.bmfa.org
The British Model Flying Association is the National Governing Body for the sport of model flying in the UK. The main objectives of the society are the promotion, protection, organisation and encouragement of model aircraft building, flying and development in all its aspects in the United Kingdom.

Tamiya Trucks & Scale Road Vehicles
http://www.rcroadvehicles.co.uk
1/14th scale model working trucks, most of the trucks are kit based from Tamiya, most have full working sounds and lights, some of the trucks are based on real UK trucks, which can be seen on the UK roads today. Some members are real UK truck drivers, and build their models to the same type of truck as they driver every day. Members add custom made parts to their trucks including paint work. Members also custom build their trailers to carry real life like loads.

UK Tank Club
http://www.uktank.org
The UK Tank Club exists to promote all scale R/C tanks in the UK and to organise various events for members to display and run their models at military and model shows throughout the country. Scales vary from 1/16th, 1/8th and 1/6th up to 1/4 scale. Models are available ready to run in GRP and are from Russia, which the heavier 25 stone all metal kits are manufactured in the UK. Also, several members convert static models to R/C

Polly Owners Group

The models have been built from fully machined kits or drawings and castings, all supplied by Polly Model Engineering Ltd. Different owners have finished their models in their own way showing how attractive and individual they can be. Polly Owners Group also welcomes builders of the practical scale range of engines.

Imagineering Foundation
http://www.imagineeringweb.co.uk
An educational charity encouraging young people to become interested in engineering through hands-on activities. We run weekly after-school imagineering Clubs for children who make a series of working models from kits, using simple tools and leaning basic skills. Currently 140 Clubs operate across the country, run by 300 volunteer engineer tutors and teachers. The network is now expanding into London and southeast. We will be recruiting tutors, displaying kits and models and providing activities for visitors.

MARS is an amateur group funded through private donations and corporate sponsorship, the members of which share the common dream that the final frontier is primarily a psychological barrier that is there for every man and woman to strive to break to themselves. MARS work on; armature hybrid (N20/plastic) rocket motors; rocket airframes in hi-tech materials; avionics, instrumentation, telemetry amd scientific payloads; recovery systems and parachutes; ground support equipment comprising fuelling systems, launch towers and launch/ignition control systems.

United Kingdom Rocketry Association
